University of Sindh has announced different posts for different vacancies, but it is very painful that for the post of Public Relations Officer, illegibility is prescribed MA English with minor Mass Communication rather than giving opportunity to Mass Communication graduates directly. PRO post is nothing to do with MA English, it totally depends on Mass Communication graduation but University of Sindh administration seems to be blind for knowing this huge difference.
This injustice is not new for Mass communicators and its not only from University of Sindh administration but since a long time they are deprive of their right on posts in different universities, Print and Electronic Media, Radio, Television, different institutes, and organizations.
In print and Electronic media, non professional are sitting on the chairs, while Mass Communicators are standing at doors of Media houses, like a beggar: “Allah ke nam pe nokri de do”, I don’t want such a big chair, I just want a little chair, where I can fit, I will proof your articles, news, and other data, will go for reporting in hot sun light, will sleep late night, please give me chance! to hold your logo, Or ID but every body push them back, go and knock any other door!
Doors from every field for Mass Communicators seems to be closed, Producers in the Radio Pakistan are absolutely not from the relevant Department “Mass Communication”. Since a long time Mass communicators haven’t read any advertisement for any post in Pakistan Television, it doesn’t looks like young writers can also contribute in national media.
In Khairpur University a student of Mass Communication final year is serving as a PRO without any job security, there is no vacancy for Mass Communication graduates, who know that this young man will be PRO after graduation too…
Since a long time post is vacant for PRO In Sindh agriculture university Tando Jam. Press release from Lums University PRO seems like an essay rather than news, but they don’t want to permit any Mass Communication graduate who can understand the scenario.
There is much debates in society on freedom of expression in media, it is sad to say that many media persons cross their ethical limits during their duty in media, even it causes societal depression, they are not known of their ethical values, which we are taught by our teachers in Mass Communications, Mass Communicators knows, what are their boundaries, what is less harm reporting, what to show or write on their articles, these all are taught to Mass Communication graduates, what is press release, how to make it, it is practically practiced in Mass Communication Departments. Writing article, making videos, documentaries, films, programs is their practical learning, Sindh university students are also well known how to write article, news, press release, how to take interviews and how to make documentary, talk shows and other programs. Students publish Weekly newspaper named “Roshni” monthly magazine “Shaoor” and “Campus Communicators” and every student take part on these publication practically, in spite of that University of Sindh has neglected students for the Post of PRO. If university administration feel that Mass Communication graduates are not capable for the post, than they should make their department capable to make capable students, if department is capable than they should change their behavior towards students future. Or they should advertise vacancies for such students who are working in field and they have at least one year professional experience, but we will not bear to neglect Mass Communicators, we would not allow replacement as MA English or any other social science degree.
