Atleast 48 women were killed over allegation of honor killing (Karo Kari) and domestic violence in different areas of Sindh, while 12 men lost their lives over allegation of Karo Kari during the month of April 2011.
According to the monthly report of Women Cell of Research and Development for Human Resources (RDHR), 26 women were killed over allegation of honor killing, while 22 women were killed by the torture (Domestic Violence). More people were killed in areas of Sukkur district as compare to other district of Sindh, where 6 women and 2 men were killed, While 5 women and one man were killed in Khairpur district. In larkana, 4 women and one man were killed over the allegation of honor killing, while two women and one man were killed in each Ghotki and Shahdadkot districts.
According to report, 22 women killed by torture in domestic disputes. 4 women in Khairpur, 3 in Karachi, while 2 women in each district Sanghar, Hyderabad, Larkana, Dadu, and Mirpurkhas lost their lives in domestic disputes. One woman in each district Badin, Nawabshah, Sukkur, Jecobabad, Matiari and Shikarpur were killed by the torture.
