At least sixty five women and 17 men killed under the allegations of Kari-kari and, domestic violence and other petty maters in the province of Sindh in the month of May, 2011.
32 women killed over Kari pretext and 33 women killed in domestic violence, 4 couples killed over the allegations of Karo-Kari.
Study conducted by Research and Development for Human Resources (RDHR), according to study District Ghotki remains on the Top where seven women were killed, 6 women killed in Kandhkot, 3 each were killed in Sukkur and Larkana, 2 earch in Qambar-shahdadkot, Jamshoro, Dadu, and Hyderabad. While one each in Khairpur, Sanghar, Shikarpur, Naushero feroze and Matiari.
According to report, 33 women killed by torture in domestic disputes, comprises 6 women in Larkana district, 5 in Dadu, 3 each in Nawabshah, Hyderabad, Badin districts, two each in Kandhkot, Shikarpur and Jacobabad districts, while one each woman killed by torture in Kherpur, Ghotki, Qambar Shahdadkot, Nosheroferoz, Tando Alahyar, Sukkur and Thatta districts.
Including 4 couples 17 men were killed over allegation of Karo-kari, more incidents happened in QambarShahdadkot, where 4 men were killed, 3 men killed in Kandhkot district, two each in Shikarpur, Nosheroferoz and Nawabshah, while one men killed in Larkana and Thatta districts.
It is to remind that in the month of April, 2011, 48 women were killed under the allegation of Karokari and Domestic disputes and 12 men under allegation of Karikari, which ratio is increased in the month of May as 65 women and 17 men are being killed.
